NYCSL Metropolitian League Announcement

The NYCSL is delighted to announce the introduction of a new club based development platform that will provide progressive clubs, from across the tri-state, with the best possible league format.

The NYCSL Metropolitan League will begin this September with 5 member clubs:
  • White Plains
  • Albertson
  • Quickstrike
  • Clarkstown
  • Auburndale
The league will initially accommodate the 05, 04 and 03 boys age groups, but will expand to include the high school age teams in Spring 2017.

The new league's format will mirror the NYCSL's NPL format and provide aspiring clubs with the opportunity to compare performance in a club based model.

The 8 game home and away season will be dovetailed with NY Cup group games and provide the member clubs with an 11 game spring season.

The Metropolitan League will become the gold standard of league play outside of the NPL with the highest possible level of on and off field standards. NYCSL President Gary Grossman commented “We wanted to give aspiring clubs the proper platform to play in a club based model, with the opportunity to be promoted to the NYCSL NPL”.

NYCSL Technical Director John Curtis "The NYCSL Metropolitan League is for clubs with the expertise, resources and ambition that aspire to provide their players with the best possible developmental platform."

NYCSL Travel League

NYCSL, under the sanctioning of US Club Soccer, operates a traditional travel league for 2008-1998 (U9-U19)8 teams. The league will place teams based on ability and geographic location. Each season, teams will be promoted and/or relegated based on the results of the prior season. All teams will play an 8-9 game Season, except for 2008-1998 (U9-U19) teams that will play a 5 game Fall Season. The League is structured to provide participating teams/clubs with the appropriate level of competition, while maintaining a challenging environment for individual and team development.

5 Borough League

All 2010-2004 (U7-U13) 5 Borough teams will participate in this league. Please note that ONLY TOP LEVEL teams will continue to participate in the existing NYCSL D1 & PL Programs. All other less competitive level teams will play in their regional based league. We are excited to be able to provide this new format with the goal of allowing all players to enjoy the NYCSL experience while maintaining parity and limiting excessive travel.

NY State Cup

The NY State Cup for 2008-1998 (U9-U19) teams is modeled after the UEFA Champions League; each team plays three preliminary games during the Fall Season, followed by single elimination rounds of play. All final matches will be played on a designated weekend in the Spring.
